Community Participation

Community ownership is central to RWDF-Liberia’s implementation model.

Beneficiary communities will be encouraged to participate in:

• Project identification;
• Site selection;
• Community consultations;
• Infrastructure protection;
• Establishment of water committees;
• Operation and maintenance planning;
• Hygiene promotion;
• Grievance-redress processes;
• Monitoring of service delivery; and
• Sustainability planning.

Where appropriate, Water Management Committees will be established or strengthened and trained in basic operation, maintenance, financial management and governance.
